Discovery Divers now to offer instructor training
I received confirmation today that my instructor trainer status has been confirmed by NAUI. It will be a small market for us, but from now we will be able to conduct instructor-level training in conjunction with a NAUI Course Director, Doug Bennet at Reef Encounters in Okinawa.
At our facilities, we'll be able to do the front end of instructor training; academics, pool work, tasks/skills, presentations, assist in training. Then, our instructor candidates will either be able to make a long weekend trip to Okinawa for final evaluation and approval, or Doug is amenable to making a trip up here, at the expense of the candidate(s).
There's certainly no hurry, but if any of you have an interest in going the instructor route, let me know. Ken needs some encouragement in that direction.
Last, from now, I am able to officially run staff training workshops to keep our teaching and leading skills sharp. I'd like to work one of these in the dive season, and one or two in the next pool season.
